Raimondi directs Richard to the café. The two men sit down at a table, away from other patrons, Raimondi positioning his chair to sit with his back to the wall, signalling the joven for two cups of coffee.
“You seem somewhat perturbed, Dr. Raimondi. Ill at ease.”
“You are keenly observant yourself, Sr. Woolcot, and I beg your pardon.” Raimondi's eyes fixate momentarily beyond the window on the shadows beneath an arch across the plaza. Richard tries to follow his gaze, see what he sees. The spell breaks when Raimondi finds some satisfaction that there is nothing to them after all. “I must admit, I have asked you here with some pretence and I do not wish to mislead you any longer.”
